School Events

Culture Festival

bunkasai

Every November, the school holds a culture festival. The event takes place on a Saturday and involves pupils, parents and local people. The pupils put on music performances, plays, and other stage performances. Local people teach traditional Japanese arts, crafts, musical intruments, dances, and so on.

Sports Festival

undokai

At the end of September we have the school sports festival. In this exciting event the children are divided into three huge teams, each composed of pupils from all six year groups. The teams compete in running relays, obstacle courses, cheer-leading contests, tug-of-war, and a great many other events. The whole school practises for the sports festival for two or three weeks, with many extra PE lessons replacing normal lessons during this period. The children and teachers completely dedicate themselves to making the event a great success.

Volunteers from the local community came to the school to teach the children how to make traditional Japanese kites. After making the kites, we all enjoyed flying them on the school field.

Plastic Bottle Rockets

Volunteers from the local community came to the school to teach the children how to make air/water-propelled rockets from plastic bottles. We were amazed at how far these rockets flew. Some of them flew the whole length of the school athletic ground!
